Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) Overview
The Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) is a temporary visa allowing international students who have completed two years of study from an Australian educational institution to live and work in Australia for a period ranging from 18 months to four years.
This visa requires the primary applicant to be in Australia at the time of application and to have held an eligible student visa within the six months prior to lodgement.
Endeavour Visas Consultants currently offers an excellent promotion for 485 applicants: enroll in a full-time course through us, and we will lodge your 485 application at no charge. Our expert team ensures your application is prepared accurately.
To be eligible, you must be under 50 years of age, hold an eligible visa, and have a recent qualification in a CRICOS-registered course.
The main applicant must demonstrate their English language ability through a qualifying passport or by taking an English test, with evidence required at the time of application. You must also meet the two-year study requirement and have completed your qualifications within six months of applying for the visa.
The Temporary Graduate subclass 485 visa is not points-tested.
The new English requirements for both the Post Study Work Stream and Graduate Work Stream are as follows:
- Hold a passport from the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, or New Zealand; or
- - IELTS (Academic or General Training): overall average of 6 with at least 5 in each band; or
- - Occupational English Test (OET): B Pass in each band; or
- - Pearson (PTE Academic): overall average of 50 with at least 36 in each band; or
- - TOEFL iBT (Internet Based Test): total score of 64, with at least 4 in Listening and Reading, and at least 14 in Writing and Speaking; or
- - Cambridge (CAE): 169 overall average with at least 154 in each band.
This represents a significant lowering of the English language requirement, providing relief to applicants who have struggled to meet the previous minimum scores.
This visa allows you to stay in Australia for the duration of the activities specified in your application, with maximum stay periods of up to 18 months for the Graduate Work Stream and up to four years for the Post Study Work Stream.
You can engage in work or activities as specified in your application, bring eligible family members with you to Australia, and enter and leave Australia as many times as you wish while your visa remains valid.
